CEKTOS offers therapy (with or without GP referral). We offer individual counseling as well as Metacognitive Group Therapy Programmes.
If you are looking for help quickly, we recommend private or insurance paid individual counseling at one of our clinics in Copenhagen or Aarhus. Alternatively, we also offer individual online sessions and online Metacognitive group courses in English. That way, you will be able to get counseling even if you are located in a different country and time zone. Hundreds of satisfied clients have benefitted from our popular Group Metacognitive Therapy Programmes, which in just six weeks provide clients with tools to alleviate symptoms of depression, PTSD, OCD and anxiety.
Individual or group sessions can be either ONLINE or by physical attendance at one of our clinics (Copenhagen or Aarhus).
For further information about group or individual sessions, please contact our Secretary, Tina Steenberg Moll by writing to tina.steenberg@cektos.dk.
The particular Group Metacognitive Therapy process has been developed in collaboration with Professor Adrian Wells and the results are indeed promising. Several thousand people have participated in group sessions and research show that Group Metacognitive Therapy has proven even more effective than individual therapy.
Dr. Pia Callesen is one of Denmarks most educated metacognitive psychologists. She has more than 25 years experience as a therapist and has completed the official 2-year metacognitive certification training in Manchester at the MCT-Institute and the subsequent 1-year advanced level masterclass in Oxford by Professor Adrian Wells. At the end of 2016, she completed her PhD at Manchester University. The PhD contained a large randomised controlled trial with research into the effects of metacognitive therapy treatment for depression.
She has over the years received regular individual supervision and coaching from Professor Adrian Wells, the originator of MCT.
Metacognitive Therapy is a new way of treating psychological problems. The therapy is a short-term treatment focussing on minimizing certain mental strategies which backfire resulting in symptoms such as anxiety , OCD, PTSD and depression. These strategies primarily consist of overthinking, rumination, threat monitoring and thought-avoidance.
A Metacognitive Treatment Programme will normally last between 5-8 sessions. During these individual sessions, you will regain thought control. Disorders such as stress, anxiety, obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD), post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) or depression are all fuelled by particular styles of thinking. You will learn to relate to your thoughts in a different way, which will allow you to spend less time ruminating and worrying. Most people experience that this change improves their overall quality of life by enhancing the ability to focus on meaningful life experiences rather than on symptoms and negative thoughts.
We also offer metacognitiv group sessions with 6-12 participants. Our next group is scheduled for 23rd April at 16.00 (CET).
"I must say, I´m a huge fan of Mikkel. I think he´s an excellent therapist and an even better guy. I can´t tell you how helpful he's been for me. Thank you in all you do"
Kenny
Metacognitive Therapy is recommended, amongst others by the British national health service (National Institute for Health and Care Excellence, NICE) as the most effective treatment for generalised anxiety disorder and PTSD. Extensive research supports the recommendation by the British health service.

Since Metacognitive Therapy is becoming more and more prevalent, there are, unfortunately, several psychologists who provide the method without being adequately trained, supervised or certified.
Make sure that your metacognitive psychologist has graduated the 2-year masterclass from the MCT-Institute.
You can check the list of certified psychologists on the website of the MCT Institute Danish Branch.
All of the psychologists working at CEKTOS are either certified MCT-psychologists or in the process of qualifying as such.
